general survey...

...just curious. How much have you paid to surf since the meters have gone up and how many tickets have you gotten?

Paid nothing (never will unless you count a county park gold pass) and got no tickets. The Washout is a crap wave anyway plus the crowd sucks unless it's at dawn or right before dark. Only chumps will pay to park on Folly Beach and only an idiot would pay to surf the washpot. nln

Grumpy local where do you live, I'd love to give you a "bitch slap"

To open handedley slap someone. Denote disrespect for the person being bitch slapped as they are not worthy of a man sized punch. Suggests the slap was met with little resistance and much whining

I will see you at Dawn good Sir!

I live at the beach Jack. Internet threats are about as lame as paying to park at the beach, but not quite as lame as the wave at the washout and 80% of the goons that surf there....and only there.

Way to gain "respect" Jack. Denote sarcasm... if your reading comprehension exceeded that of an 8th grade Colleton County public school zombie drop out, you would have comprehended the "never will unless you count a county park gold pass"... see the "never will" part? Read it slowly. That means I never will pay to park on Folly because I do have a pass, so eat it yourself Jack. I do have a gold pass because my world is bigger than the washout, Jack, and I have used it to park at both the county parks on Folly. Last I checked my FB pass doesn't get me in the parks. So I guess in a way I do pay to park on Folly sometimes, but not to surf a lame wave with a lame crowd

Besides, If you are willing to walk, oh 500 feet, you wouldn't have to pay either, Jack... unless of course, you don't show up till noon, then you'll have to walk further.

I wonder how Timmy feels about profane language and threats on his website? You're a kook Jack.

By the way, thanks for reminding me why I am a grumpy local. If your Mommy hasn't suspended your internet usage for the nite, go ahead and leave a full description of yourself, your vehicle and your board.... I'll come find you in the morning.... until then Jack....

Maybe someone could direct a bit of their anger at . . . oh, I don't know . . . a parking meter?

I am grumpy, yes (thanks to a hoard of chumps invading the beach)....angry no. Who threatened to "bitch slap" who again? Maybe someone should think a little before they start swinging.

I checked in hoping for a description and all I see is a wanna be bitch slapper back peddling. Way to go Jack.
Little clean waves this morning... see ya there kook.

I see this 2 ways and they may seem unrelated. But here it goes. Most of the people(not surfers) treat Folly like a toilet. Everytime I go out I end up picking up someone elses trash. People have no respect for the beach. As a local, I am almost glad to see these go up because they say they are going to use the money for trash pick up. Now I know every one is skeptical about this, but lets see. We have taken this beach for granted. People go to the beach, leave their empties, butts and dog cr*p on the beach and then leave, leaving a mess for someone else to pick up. WRONG, and now we all get to pay the price. People don't want to see Folly become the next myrtle beach-have you been there??? what a F*cking dump that place is. If we want to things a certain way, we have to respect what we have. The other side is the freedom of access. I understand people's right to the beach. But as they say, freedom isn't free.

Good reply.
However, lots of surfers disrespect the beach also. For example at the Washout, how many surfers actually use the boardwalks vs trampling across the dunes right where they park? I see it everytime I'm up there and I would say a greater percentage of "surfers" do not use the boardwalks...because they have to walk 50 feet and don't like being inconvienenced. (another topic all together)

I was ruminating about this topic while surfing solo this morning. Someone asked why I didn't direct my "anger" towards the parking meters... because the parking meters didn't threaten to bitch slap me nor will they have any negative impact on my life. I wont say I'm glad to see them, but I'm not gonna whine about it either. When someone threatens me I will glady reciprocate, though I am generally an easy going guy. Don't mistake aggression for anger.

As far as people parking in the right of way by my yard, that's a fact of summer life at the beach. It's nothing new, happens every year starting in late April and May, usually on the weekends. Last weekend I offered up my hose (pun intended) to a bunch of Clemson girls who parked by my house.... they accepted, the joy. Most of those folks are good people wanting to enjoy the beach....not a bunch of mouthy self absorbed pricks like the ones who frequent the washout.

While I am a proponent of FREE speech, I will delete any posts using expletives as this is a family blog...

In terms of threats, using physical violence as a debating tool is extremely George Bush-like. Can't find the words to make a solid point, so we'll just start smashing stuff, cool.

Grumpy local, I have a hose too so if you get swamped with filthy, sandy Clemson girls this weekend I'll gladly help. It's all about keeping the sand on the beach, right?

Grumpy local -

Please come and find me, I ride a 6 plastic rusty with a BI sticker on it. I drive a big grey truck with fake balls hanging from the trailer hitch. I have SC state flag stickers on my front, back, and side windows. I wear pink crocks and croakies. My boxer shorts stick out of my surf trunks plus I just got an edge of America tattoo on my lower back. My hair is really shaggy but short and sticks out of the front of my worn Gamecocks hat. I will drive around the beach all day Saturday and Sunday really fast because I think girls like it. So grumpy local stop being grumpy it just makes you look stupid!

I will concur with you grumpy on some of the young surfers(kooks). They are lazy slobs. But I really wouldn't call them surfers. Just because they slap a board on top of their moms car does make them surfers. Went to the wash out the other night and it was full of kooks. There were about 4 of us who could actually catch waves. The rest of the kooks were just gettin in the way. I don't go there much anymore-use to go all the time but not any more. Perhaps when the college of Chas is out all those "surfers" from Ohio will go home and take their surftech thrusters with them. Speaking of ohio-check out out www.gobacktoohio.com Its a riot

Wow! I thought surfers had a better attitude. Isn't the sport supposed to produce a calming effect on the individual who participates. After reading these blogs I just don't know anymore...
