bamboozled...

...wood is not retro. Wood is the future. Especially bamboo. 101 Fin Co. is the brainchild of Marlin Bacon. Marlin has spent countless hours in the shaping room with Al Merrick and knows his schtuff when it comes to design. Not only do his fins flex better than fiberglass, but weigh 50% less than a set of honeycomb fiberglass fins. ShamWow? No, SHBAMBOO!

I currently have a little quad set in the works. Marlin's R&D'ing some Paulownia wood fins with Taylor Knox too, and they're even lighter than the bamboos. Here's what you do. You can order a set of fins, and then once you get them you order a custom Merrick and have them glass those suckers on. Or you can order a board and get Lokbox fins. Both feel unreal. Remember kids, the fins are more important than the hulls. A good fin can fix a bad board, but a good board can't fix a bad fin.

I've been following these babies on Surfy Surfy....very nice. I'm definitely thinking about a Malcom Brothers 5 fin Bonzer with these.... It won't be soon, but it's on my list.
