sheeple...

... now that the swell is gone I can go back to surfing in front of my house without the crowds. While 6th and 10th blocks saw astronomical crowds for no good reason other than "sheeple" said it was breaking good, some were smart enough to search for uncrowded spots in between the numbers and were rewarded.

to top it all off, many many of these "surfers" were complete jackasses. It's almost like every C&C kid from Ohio got here, ran over to that "surfshop" on king st grabbed a "blue" board and decided last week was a good time to knee board. I mean, I am by no means Kelly Slater, but these cats-guy and girls were complete bones heads-dropping in all over the place-I saw three run into each other. They can barely stand up, and yet they get all arro and paddle hard to an incoming swell, only to either miss it completely or get pearled-on a short board. It was completely ridiculous! I call 10th home during the summer months(then too the pier for quiet winter swell)and i have never seen so many nut jobs. This does not bode well for the future-maybe the mayor of follow will start requiring a surf license and before anyone can get one, they have to take a 40hour class with one of his cronies. And then, just like driving, you will have to surf with the instructor to show him/her how well you can surf. Boy does that sound like fun! Man, I am all over the place today!!! see what happens when the swell goes away, I just ramble and ramble and ramble.

Blue board, Costco board, pop-out, McKevlin's beginner board...what's the difference? Surfing is surfing and kooks have been around since Duke Kahamamokook...deal with it.

Looks like the kooks are out to give you a hard time. what did you do, finish a history of surfing. just because they've been around doesn't mean we gotta like it-deal with that!

I'm with Ian...I live off of E. 5th and 6th was stinkin nuts!! Now by definition, I'm a kook, as my surfing sucks and always has, but I know not to drop in on someone and I actually try to defer the better surfers and let them take a wave if we're both set up for the same wave. No reason for them to suffer because of me....but, for the love of (insert your deity here)...people were just crazy aggressive. And, I m sorry, but it wasn't just the "CofC, Ohioans" either. Competent surfers who I've seen out all summer were being complete a$$holes. Mayber because they were pissed off at others, but still. The whole feel sucked, it made what should have been a great weekend swell for all, become a pretty funless weekend. Thank god for Labor day and it's ensuing calming of the masses.
