A champion has passed away today. Just at the beginning of his long awaited comeback, Andy was cut down by what is being reported as Dengue fever.
Andy Irons brought a punk rock attitude to surfing and was one of the few who could find the chink in Kelly Slater's armor. He had a bulldog style and was absolutely fearless in waves of consequence. He is, and will be, regarded as one of the best ever to put a surfboard under his feet. Our condolences go out to the entire Irons clan.

Absolutely sad and tragic news! Dying alone in a Dallas hotel room so far from home...not a proper way to go for a surfer. I feel most for his unborn child and parents. Keep ripping A.I. on that eternal last wave. We'll all have a session with you someday.
