This is a new model from Lost called the Flashback fish. A board reminiscent of times when everything looked like a butt. I guess I'm not old enough to remember such a time, but who am I to argue? This particular one is a custom order. We don't have any stock ones yet, but depending on the feedback from the few customs we've gotten maybe we will. I think this tail is also featured on a revamped version of the Uber Plank.

Not really. Marlin pulls the nose in, no wings. Marlin use the butt tail, but so did a lot people in the 80's, hence the nomenclator's choice ofFlashback.
That tail doesn't work. Just marketing hype for the throw back to the 80's,

Lost doesn't make anyone buy boards. People buy boards. If you aren't smart enough to "sniff" out a gimmick then you might get stuck with a crappy board.
Just think it at a consumer report, no harm in giving some info to the ...uninformed
The flashback, the plank, or whatever gimmick model they push out, just mimicking other shaper. The hype machine of ...lost feeding the hype machine of mckevlins, not everyone knows better to sniff out what works and what doesn't
And more importantly, why ship a board from the wrong coast all the way to the east coast?

I just wish they'd make a board that last's more than three months. Im tired of having to leave behind decent surf because of a ding. The ONLY reason surfboard companies aren't making more durable equipment is so they can sell more boards. Its no different than many other products being sold in our capitalist society. Make a product thats guaranteed to only last a certain amount of time so that when it breaks, the consumer is forced to delve back into the market for either the same product or a viable substitute.
Its funny that when when you get pissed (or broke) and buy a pop out, some folks with a vested interest call you a kook with no soul. We'll I'll take that flawed and judgmental perception any day of the week over spending $2000 dollars a year on fragile surfboards. Give me a product that lasts please.
note: I typed this after my ankle put a golfball sized ding in the rail of my board...on my third wave of the day.
Dude, you know popouts don't last any longer than other boards. Its whether they are poly or epoxy, not whether they are made in China or Cali. Also they are not any cheaper, there are tons of great handshapes at most every surf shop for less than 500$. Stop in Mcks or Ocean and you will find epoxy handshapes for the same price as popouts. You know this. Please dont get all down on real boards man.
boards don't last because everyone wants "team glass, light board" - you want a board to last, get a custom order with the right glass job.
I've had some team light glass jobs that have held up pretty well, but in order for that to happen you have to have a good laminator glass your board. S-cloth is always a good option if you go custom, same weight more strength.
Some people are more prone to dinging boards than others... Jimmy. They're even more prone to dinging other people's boards... Jimmy.
Our whole society has become based on gimmicks. Just consider "hope and change".
