...ruins it for everyone

At this point you are probably aware of all of the trash that was left behind after the celebrations of our emancipation from tyrannical Britain, but what you may not be aware of is the consequences which could come into effect. To anyone who sees this picture and others, which can be seen HERE, it is clear that something needs to be done to combat this overflow of garbage. One solution that is being kicked around City Hall is the banning of alcohol on the beach. This is not a new idea, but now a new reason for it has come to light giving the alcohol ban some steam. Personally I think that the litter is just an excuse to push forward this anti-alcohol legislation as other means of regulation (stricter enforcement of the no cans or bottles on the beach law) would seem to make more sense. Now don't get me wrong, I hate nothing more then a bunch of Ohioans getting drunk and trying to catch a football while tripping over each other, but I also hate being told what I can or can't do.
What can you do? Well, they are inviting the public to be heard on the evening of the 27th at 6:30 in City Hall so show up and tell them what you think.

I know...set up a road block which turns away all alchoholics. Unfortunately, most people that inhabit this Earth are by nature stupid, disrespectful to nature and each other. I wish there was an anti idot pill we could pass out to the population. Seriously, those photos I've seen of the trash on Folly and the one thousand pounds of trash on Morris Island piss me off!!!

I was out there doing some clean up. I love surfing and having a beer on the beach and I will be there at the meeting. I am probably going to support the ban. It has been abused to long. i know you hate being told what to do and so do I, but I hate the drunken as*holes that inhabit folly on a regular basis.

Ban it!

If you can't enjoy the beach without drinking alchohol you have a problem.

I agree 1000% how many surfers really go and drink at the beach. its all the scum bags from the inlands that drive in, trash it and leave. Or the college dregs from the midwest who just don't give a sh@t.

I can definately survive a surf session without bring a six pack o'beer with me to the beach. I prefer Gatorade. If you gotta have one, just drop into one of the local bars! Or...just ban College Kids from the beach. I agree with Anonymous, I don't like being told what to do, but unfortunately one or two bad apples DO spoil it for everyone else.

Oh yeah, one more item. I heard the local Surfrider Chapter is trying to bring up the idea of "Parking Passes" at the next town hall meeting on Folly Bch.

I have a feeling it was a local surfer... I missed that sneaker chest high swell last week. so pissed. oh yeah, i joined the coast guard. see you in the water.

Who needs beer when you can smoke weed instead?
