Smokin' Blunts

Another new model from Lost for the '10 is The Blunt.

With a flat rocker and meaty tail this board will work in mushy high tide Folly slop; but, with the curvy outline and pulled in nose can still handle aggressive turns and vertical snaps.

Dims: 5'10" x 20" x 2 1/2" single to double concave $580.00

A Little Motivation From ...Lost

We got a shipment from Lost last night, mostly customs but we did get a couple Blunts and a Motivator.

The Motivator came to be after complaints that the rocket was not enough of a groveler board.

Specifically designed for 1' slop it seems like this is a perfect board for our beloved home break of Folly Beach.

What makes this board a better groveler then the Rocket? First is the width increase in the nose and tailblock. That means a straighter outline with longer rails which translates to increased drive. Thickness was also increased in the nose with a beak and the tail without changing the overall thickness on the rails. It still has a deep single concave through the mid-section but pulls into a deep "V" behind the back foot to help tighten up the turning radius.

The step-rail on the tail makes turning in crappy surf a little easier by adding more of an edge then a thicker chunky tail.

The Great White North... Carolina

I went on a little snowboard trip last weekend with my girlfriend Annie to Wolf Ridge NC. It is about 20 minutes north of Asheville off of I-26.

There wasn't a whole lot of snow on the drive from our hotel in Asheville to the slope. We got there in about 20 minutes and were a little concerned as to the snow conditions because it had been raining a bit earlier that day.

Just before we got to the ski slope it started to snow and we were met with better snow then I thought NC could ever get. After about 3 1/2 hours of premium snowboarding the lift broke so we left. This is what the car looked like when we were getting ready to leave right around 4:00pm.

After drifting into a snowbank and getting stuck twice I started to realize the drive back to the hotel may be a little hazardous. This idea really started to stick when abandoned snow covered cars started to appear on the side of the interstate.

Then trees started to fall over...

...and here is where we stayed the night.

After a 13 hour stay on the Interstate huddling together for warmth and a 5 mile hike for food I was happy to get back to the hotel which we did around 5:00 am. We got stuck again trying to get into the parking lot and the hotel had no power, but the snowboarding was good.

...listen to Children.

Any fan of the Evil Dead will enjoy this, the greatest music video of all time. Listen to before/while skating roundwall for a truly profound experience, avoid before surfing because you'll just spazz out.

What Really Went Wrong...

...is the name of the new Lost movie. It is a compilation of the best footage from Lost from '93-'99 with a one hour bonus section of never before seen footage.

Matt Biolos personally called us to make sure we would have it so you better come get it. Check out the trailer here.

OH that makes sense.

Can you believe someone would park like this blocking the entire parking lot. The car has been in that spot since I got to work and I can only imagine it was left here last night. I wonder where a person like this could come from. Maybe if I get a little closer...

Man, that liscence plate looks like many I've seen before; but where could it be from?

Ahhh, "The Birthplace of Aviation." I know where this guy came from and it is all starting to make sense. He thought he could hide his state of origin with a dealer tag frame. Maybe he could have if only he didn't draw attention to his car by parking like a jerk. It only takes a few bad eggs to ruin it for the rest of them.

Nefarious Conspiration

Swell info is calling for a little bit of surf on Wed. and the weekend. Hopefully you guys can make it out.

I however am not so lucky. It seems that the wave gods have gotten a hold of my work schedule and made sure my day off will be met with the minimal swell for the week. Bastards.

Have fun.

They don't make'em like this anymore.

The Old Grumpster came by this morning and brought with him his "classic" Rip Curl Insulator II, a much superior suit then the laughable Insulator 1.

Having a suit with a bit of age to it adds numerous advantages. Having been broken in properly, the suit holds it's shape with a rigidity that can best be described as cardboard. That means no pesky fold seams and unparalleled support for those older joints.

The suit also features a delightfully bright rainbow colored zipper string to accent the same colors found in the "Rip Curl" logo on the chest

I know at this point you may be wondering how you could come into possession of such an inestimable piece of merchandise. Well, I have some good news. Being the avid blogger that grumpy is, he is offering the suit at a ridiculously low blog only price of $999.95 for the next week. After that he will put it on craigslist for $1500.

Act now!!!!.......before it's too late.

It's December 1st...

...Which means the Christmas or Holiday Monster (depending on the appropriateness of being politically correct) is waking from its slumber just in time to remind you to buy a bunch of stuff for other people.

Happy Holidays.
