in the ghetto...

...the windows at my house are always rattling, whether its from bass-heavy ghetto-blaster strip-cruisers or the peaky stink nuggets like the ones above. California has many "ghettos-by-the-sea" which aren't too scary, as long as its broad daylight. Earlier this morning the only thing you had to worry about was losing a finger to frostbite.

How big is it? About head high plus? Cold out there? Real warm at FB today. Oh and what pier is that in the background?

Cold and chest-shoulder at this spot.

Frostbite vs surf ? The choice is obvious

Is that Imperial Beach? I used to live down the road in Coranado if it is. IB gets some nice waves . Just don't go surfing after the rain. T.J. is very close by. Lots of polution.

I.R. said...

Not IB, but that place dumps. Pun intended.

Frostbite? Come up north. way north. You guy have it made down there.

I know, I'm such a puss. It's been so long since I weathered the New Jersey winters I don't know what REAL cold is anymore.

Hey Ian, what is Heidi and Chris up to nowadays?

djjahd said...

Why is there no one on that wave... or even near it..

I.R. said...

Because it's 6:15 AM and 40 degrees. And a swell lasts more than 6 hours...

hepatitis, used condoms, dirty needles on the beach?

Anonymous said...

We get it you repetitive little pecker. California has waves!!!!! New concept please.

Anonymous said...

Hepatitis, used condoms and yes, even dirty needles. All of these things I seen at the Wash Out. Well, you can't see Hepatitis...but I've seen dog turds and garbage.

do they put fake pine straw at the beach in Cally?
The washout looks about as natural as a myrtle beach putt putt course.

I'd like to see some pics of the beautification of the Washout. Send to Mckblog1965@gmail.com

it wasn't beautified . It was uglified .disfigured. What is it about us white people we have to change nature to see beauty? I think perhaps the Indian has a better viewpoint .they see beauty in nature ,no need to change a thing .We have to make everything all Euro, with butterfly lakes and foreign crap from Lowes in order to create "beauty".
We are surrounded by natural beauty at the washout .It one of the most windswept ,wild places around .There are more wild critters running around the washout then most people think.I've even seen a marsh mink right there at the 2nd walkover!Beaches are sacred ground, and dumping foreign landscaping crap at the washout is not beautifying anything .Its just lining somebody's pockets ,while doing the environment no good whatsoever.Typical Folly tho. What a pity how Folly has deteriorated in recent years. At least the waves stay relatively thesame, (when they're not busy destroying that)!

Are we gonna cry about the parking meters now?

Anonymous said...

as you can tell ,some people are part of the problem.
watcha wanna know about the meters? where to buy super glue? those little resin injectors work best (so I hear)-ha maybe we can stick pine straw in the $$machine!
Crying is done for lack of other possible response-so whattya got big mouth?

Anonymous said...

"our" island! go away! where do you think your from -James Island? go on ,now git. (don't fergit to say yee-haw)
my apologies to grumpy ,he has better responses.

Hey, not me... I always post under grumpy local....except when I posted as Craig Simms under the blog about Drews herb garden. Got a good chuckle out of that one.

I did like the "cuntry club" comeback though, really, complaining about parking meters is one thing but why would someone post a long diatribe about the new palm trees at the washout, unless they were a bit of a cunt?

Hey anon, I'll let you in on a secret on how to get a sticker. There are alot of homeowners on Folly, some elderly who live there year round and some who own vacation rentals who never use the parking sticker decals.... find one you can barter with, (don't bother with any Company managed properties), as in trade yard work/handyman type services for a decal. If you renig on your obligations they can call in the sticker and drop your lic# like a hot potatoe, so do what you say you're going to do.

Good luck with the parking issues.

your pal,
GL

"doosh".... how about douche. wow!!!

Anonymous said...

now THATS more like it -name calling-you forgot dickwad!

I like diatribes .Thats why we're here. I just need responses to keep it going.Good old-fashioned free opinion. To hear the back and forth of the rational debate. Intelligent discourse,if I make a point you don't agree with you can
a)call me a crybaby
b)call me a cunt
c) say I live in a trailer park.
Good argument ,lets go buy pine straw for the washout.
I don't mind walking to surf, but I LOVE putting superglue in the $ machine. It's fun.Hadn't put a dollar in yet, ain't gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent.I don't shop on Folly either. Nope. Go ahead ,call me names.

For the love of god, are we really gonna rehash all this crap??

Grumpy just gave you all a great idea on how to get a parking sticker...run with it.

As for the Anon. post of you don't mind walking to the surf, but enjoy glueing the meters! WTF???

All your doing is making the rest of us look bad because you have such an inordinate disdain for dropping a couple of bucks. You are more than welcome to have your opinion about pay parking, but juvenile vandalism that makes the rest of us who surf look bad??? That does make you a douche. If you have a problem then confront the Mayor and the council. Petition for a low cost yearly pass, whatever. But, to glue meters, which will only end up driving the cost of parking up, is simply idiotic.

There's a helluva lot more important issues concerning Folly and it's move towards becoming a combination Myrtle Beach/Kiawah/gotta have money location. If you really give a damn, then get on that. Join Surfrider to help keep the damn beach clean....or pick up some damn trash on your way out from a session...something. But, hey if it gives you a chubby to glue a meter...well whatever you F-tard! It's a dead horse issue...for now...unless a solidified group gets together and makes a organized effort, it's not changing...especially if some spoiled cunt glues meters.

So feel free to defend your pansy ass position on parking and how glueing a meter is gonna change the world of Folly. If you think that's the only way to do it.

Boycotting FB business is also ridiculous. No sales tax, means no revenue for the city, wich equals...what do you think??? Parking meters.

Look at the whole picture not your myopic, narrow vision issue of how far you may have to walk to get to our epic breaks.

Anonymous said...

well you said I lived in a k-mart country club first and I said you lived in a trailer park so.

Anonymous said...

better not diatribe now, someone might call you a pansy
We know about the point of view that says pay $1 per hour so I don't have to pay my taxes.Thats the status quo.
I don't get to vote on Folly so scratch that suggestion.
Surfrider simply doesn't represent me ,and I know many who agree. They were as silent as Folly residents when it came to defending surfer parking or the uglyfying project. They seem to have their priorities ,I respect that ,but don't assume all surfers agree with a surfer group.
I see you ,like many Folly residents,as part of the problem.
I guess I should call you a name or something so you can relate.
If its alright with you ,l"ll choose where to shop for myself .
For me ,its not the amount of the money, but if you insists I'll rehash. Its about assuming we're a bunch of tourist who need to pay our "share" when most of us are from James Island and why should we pay your taxes. It's about paying a half percent of every dollar you spend on Folly goes into the coffers of an administration that approves a $300 boot for a 2nd offense for parking at the Washout.
We can rehash more later ,and you can rehash the mayors view and throw in some macho comments!

I was refering to the current state of our beloved washout.
I know ,its all temporary. it just funny what to some people is good taste. God is the best landscaper,IMO.

Actually you get my sincere apology for the name calling, I gave in to the lower road. But, I stand by my point of glueing a parking meter as juvenile. Whether you reside on Folly or not doesn't impact the fact that you can address the powers that be in a better way. Able to vote or not. And most that live on Folly that I know are not fans of parking for a fee, nor do they feel that everyone else is a "tourist". I'm truly not sure why you feel so alienated. My point remains, vandalism that could result in the fees going up isn't the answer.

So what have you done, Anon, that you think the Surfrider or ESA should be doing? Better yet, why don't you join them and lead the charge?

All name calling blah blah blah aside, why on earth would a group like Surfrider oppose the city of Folly Beach planting trees and beach grasses at the washout? Habitat, dune stability and greenery as oppossed to the former, nothing but walkovers, which for irony, 80% or more of "visiting surfers" won't even use.

Drew, why don't you take a ride down there and post up a picture of the "uglification" project and this can be blog issue of it's own.

Oh and the Dances with Wolves analogy is quite the sanctimonious hyperbole... Know that you do not represent me with the "us white people" rhetoric.

Hmpff.
