...the black cat = bad luck didn't pan out on this one. The MOIST Biscuit 'n' Gravy model was done and delivered in time for last Saturday's epic 1-day swell. I took Al Merrick's Biscuit outline and added some rocker allowing it to work in a wider range of conditions (because I know way more about shaping than Al...)

The owner has reported back "Its fast as f*** and just what I needed" which makes me happy. He surfs 9th block, and I live on 9th block, so the only way you could get more of a "local shaper" would be to shape it on the beach.

apparently I missed it...

Not as emotional as I was Sunday morning when I woke up to waist-high waves I bet. Rick Anson is claiming it was the biggest barrel he's ever seen anyone get at Folly. six pack of stringers...

...going a step beyond parabolic is a relatively new blank company called Prop. Based in San Diego, Prop looks to have 3 distinct types of EPS blanks according to their WEBSITE.

This one in particular is a hexabolic (six stringer) that looks like it would be a pain in the arse to handshape 100%. But, the stringer running off the nose and tail tell me its primarily done by machine and hand-finished. I'm extremely curious to know how the blanks are built, so if you know let us know.

...and some heavy duty nose concave. Despite my awesomely sarcastic surf report about longboarders and SUPers at the pier that some people enjoyed the other day (Follywaves Forum) some didn't find it amusing:

"Before leaving work last night, I called to catch the last report of the day.While the report was informative and as it turned out, accurate interms of the waves, I was surprised and disappointed at the remarks about the longboarders and stand up paddle boarders messing up the lineup. The reporter went on to say that the guys on the SUPs were doingpirouettes like ballerinas and throwing their paddles. After arriving at the pier, I felt more offended by the report as there was a really good mix of long and short boarders and one of the guys on the SUPs, was Paul Martin, who is one of the most respected surfers on Folly Beach.

As the owner of arguably, one of the finest surf shops and better source of longboards in the Southeast, I thought you should know what was said on the report. Although I know better, the cynical side of me had me questioning whether the policy of stamping out pop outs has now been extended to long boards and SUPs."

Well, now that you got Tim mad at me, I hope your happy. Tim said the only way I can keep my job is to sell all my shortboards and ride nothing but longboards and SUPs. I also have to install 8-foot high "We Heart Longboards and SUPs" signs on the side of the building. See you at the pier, and only at the pier...
