Vonkolnitz would go...
to be held at waimea bay, under the requirement of 20+ foot hawaiian scale waves. this the equivalent of 30 to 40 foot folly beach, and only one man on the beach is prepared for this. his name is William "Hayne" Vonkolnitz, or as i like to call him "mr. mom," and he's pictured above with his old Hollow Designs maui gun. a lucky few might see him streaking across the face of a few bombs on new years day near the pier, while they hold the eddie 5000 miles away...

pork fueled state champ...
...ladies and germs, this is your South Carolina state champion of surfing, Anthony "Osmental" Osment. Nobody surfs more than Anthony, perhaps due to the fact that he doesn't have a "real job." Anthony dedicates this win to Nanners, his loving grandmother, who has graciously cooked him over 8,032 pounds of bacon over the years. Somehow, after all that bacon, Twaany is still sizzi-lean.

Habari Gani...
...is swahili for "what's the news?" This is a traditional greeting used during the celebration of Kwanzaa. Today is the first day of the 7 day celebration which consists of 7 principles. The first is the principle of Umoja (Unity) to which today is dedicated and teaches all to strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.
Ron Karenga, founder of the Kwanzaa holiday, emphasizes that while every people have their various holiday traditions, all people can share in the celebration of our common humanity:
"Any particular message that is good for a particular people, if it is human in its content and ethical in its grounding, speaks not just to that people, it speaks to the world."

Christmas card from my second favorite dog in the world, Louis. We used to share an apartment in San Diego. He ate my favorite socks but I love him anyway.

en fuego...
this is the fiery banana, aka the "V" (five), from Channel Islands. this board has more tail and nose rocker than any other board over the last couple years making it mega responsive in good surf. it was developed by Al Merrick with the help of the two biggest crybabies in the drive thru video series, kalani robb(south central america) and tim curran(california).

parting is such sweet sorrow...
this board and i have been through a lot, overhead oceanside to barrelling black's to knee high folly, never failed me, not once, she practically slept in my bed for the first two months we were together, that was two years ago and since then things have changed considerably, no more overhead oceanside or punchy black's or bowling cardiff reef (wipe tear off cheek), i need a lady with a little more meat on her bones for the softer curves of folly beach, and she'll be here this week, so this one is out on the used rack, waiting for a new mate, treat her kindly...

misuse?...
we finally threw this old display out today. a product packaging change rendered it useless over a decade ago and we've since used it as a dust collector in the attic of the shop to keep the old oakley displays from getting dusty. while they never removed it from the shop for misuse (it made a better dust collector), we'll see what they do when they find it draped in one-piece bathing suits from the same era over at Aida's Closet.
